Polar Experience 2019

4 April 2019 by Julie Brown

2019 has hustled forward with a host of Polar Circles corporate activities and Polar Experience guided expeditions.  From Lake Baikal to Lapland, from Antarctica to Hardangervidda, we now shift our attention from Spitsbergen to the North Pole.

Dixie is currently in Longyearbyen, Svalbard’s largest settlement, awaiting the “Go!” command from Norpolex, our logistics provider to Barneo Ice Camp, gateway to the North Pole.  If all goes as planned, they should be flying from Longyearbyen to Barneo sometime on Friday, April 5th.

Dixie will be guiding a very special duo this year, a father and son named Mathias & Virgile Dufour.  Virgile, a 14-year-old adventurer from France, is aiming to reach the North Pole via the Last Degree.  If he succeeds in completing this approximately 111 kilometre trajectory, he will become the youngest person from France – and most likely from around the globe – to do so.

We will update their progress at our sister site, www.polarexperience.com/blog.

Our trusted travel and logistics partner, Eric Bonnem of Expeditions Unlimited, will also provide live updates in French and English.

We wish Virgile, Mathias & Dixie a safe and triumphant North Pole Expedition!
