Initiation Weekend – New Guiding Season

18 September 2017 by Julie Brown

Sunny Belgian weather warmed the curiosity of our newly trained polar explorers.

Our new guiding season kicked off in Villers-Sainte-Gertrude, a quaint village perched in the Ardennes.  Our expedition novices spent the weekend with Dixie learning not only academic theory, but more importantly enjoyed the opportunity to practice with polar equipment for the first time.

The weekend closed with an obligatory Belgian beer and the promise to continue toward actual polar destinations such as Spitsbergen and … why not for the ambitious members of the group … the North Pole.

To be continued … :).
